Places to Visit

A favorite escape for us is to load up the dog, our kids and disc for a round of disc golf at Champoeg State Park located just outside of Newberg. Among the near ancient oak grove on ground early settlers layed roots is an official 18 hole disc golf course. Letting the disc fly for both distance and accuracy has it’s addictive qualities. Rounds are filled with laughter, taunting, near misses and the occasional expletive. Over the years we’ve even progressed to the point of carrying a “bag of disc”. Each disc is designated for a type of shot and distance just like “real” golf. By the way, you’d never find the hard core disc golf crowd mingling with the country club set – it’s about the only activity a group of anarchist can agree on to follow the rules. Great fun and an amazing stress reducer!
